Festival Melayu Ada (FMA), a platform that aims to showcase Malay music, poetry and arts is having their first anniversary at its very home, Hajjah Esah Cafe @ Bussorah Street on 13 & 14 March 2010. This event is brought to you by COKLAT.
It’s also a tribute to Hajjah Esah Cafe who has been uber supportive of the arts and housing FMA. It is said that Hajjah Esah Cafe will/have be taken over by another restaurant.
The festival is break into 3 segments;
Suara (Voice) on 13th March from 1.30pm to 6,30pm featuring Zaibaktian, Aqmal, Kraton, Diorama, AdHa, Boy Raven, Crossover, Tengku Nurlela (TNL), Shafyre, NSA (No Strings Attached), Diana feat Baron Bros, Farinaz, Nizamulmuluk, Samsuri, Revive, Chal & Dâ€™Fellas, Masya, Tengku Jaafar (TJ), Elmi Zulkarnain, Zulfadli, Najib Soiman and Rafaat Haji Hamzah.
Wayang (Film) on 13th March from 8.30pm to 10pm. A series of short films from Rizal Alias, Sanif Olek, Murni Mastan and Zul Salleh will be shown.
Bicara (Forum) on 14th March from 2pm to 5pm. An interesting topic “What Can Youth Offer To Society?” will be discussed between the guest speakers of Alfian Sa’at, Aidli ‘Alin’ Mosbit, Noor Effendy Ibrahim and Sanif Olek.
FMA was first held on Sunday, March 1st 2009 at Hajjah Esah Cafe from 11 am to 4pm. Audiences of the first instalment were entertained by Zaibaktian, Tengku Nur Lela (TNL), Hirman, Diana, Yunos Erksan, ARD, Tengku Adil, Rokwell Sakti, Raven and Fyno.
The second, FMA2, was held on April 25th 2009. Other than Hajjah Esah Cafe, it was also held twice at Taman Warisan Singapura (Malay Cultural Heritage of Singapore) on April 25th 2009 due to permit issue and on May 3rd 2009, participating in a malay arts festival called “Pesta Seni Melayu”.
The last festival, FMA5, was held on November 8th 2009, showcasing Lost Hats, Tengku Nur Lela, Shafyre, Farinaz Band, Diana, Ard, Tengku Adil, Zakiah, Zaibaktian, Diorama and Fyno.
